African biodynamic trainers workshop 2022

“Learning Biodynamics as a Path of Transformation” - The biodynamic holistic training approach to soil fertility

This African biodynamic trainers’ workshop is the first of its kind and has been initiated by the Agricultural Section at the Goetheanum and the Biodynamic Federation-Demeter International as one of the four biodynamic trainers workshops. The organization and implementation will be in collaboration with experienced biodynamic trainers from the Kufunda community in Zimbabwe, the two-year accredited BD diploma in South Africa, Sekem in Egypt and Israel.

We will follow the overall topic “Biodynamics as path of transformation” and dedicate this workshop to the theme “soil fertility”. We hope going forward and to continue organizing such workshops in the next 3 years where we would like to focus on other biodynamic issues.

The intention and goals are to bring active and future biodynamic trainers and teacher together to support rooting of biodynamics and strengthen the capacity for biodynamics in Africa. We want to gather the interest and the good biodynamic practices that are already in the continent from as many countries as possible and we hope to include trainers from Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tunisia and others.

In addition to Heliopolis University in Egypt, many different initiatives have been put in place in the past 10 years, for example the All-African medical conferences or the community BD practices in Kufunda village, Zimbabwe, Namibia & Botswana. The two-year BD training in South Africa has also outreached into new provinces in their own country and other countries as far as Zimbabwe with interest in Namibia. A new initiative for training is about to begin in Mozambique. We want to connect, and galvanize, a network of people around building capacity and enabling BD farming to take root and spread in Africa. Pioneering projects and future trainers can be enriched from the experience of established biodynamic trainers and initiatives. We want to learn together by doing and reflecting on our training practice.

Join us if:

  • You would like to become a Biodynamic trainer

  • You are working in African Biodynamic training and would like to share your experience

  • You want to support the ongoing development of Biodynamic training in Africa.
