Yesterday evening in Lisbon, the Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity 2024 by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation was awarded to SEKEM initiative and EBDA by the high-caliber jury chaired by Dr. Angela Merkel, former German Chancellor and President of the jury. Alongside soil scientist Dr Rattan Lal and APCNF (Andhra Pradesh Community Natural Farming), they were selected as winners from 181 nominees from 117 countries.
Through the "Economy of Love" standards, SEKEM and EBDA support Egyptian farmers in transitioning from conventional to biodynamic agriculture. This not only makes an important contribution to the healthy development of our planet (40,000 hectares of land) but also enables better living conditions and a secure income for 10,000 farmers.
Congratulations to the winners!
