Perception for Living Farms

The project "Perception for Living Farms" produces content, schooling and materials in order to understand and develop the subject of "perception" in agricultural practice in a holistic way. The project is therefore aimed at practitioners, advisers and trainers (adult education) who would like to gain greater security and confidence in their own perception or who would like to make more conscious use of perception as a basis for practical decision-making.

Particular focus is directed to the interface and significance of sensing and feeling and sense perception for practical action on a farm. The knowledge developed in the project can therefore be used on biodynamic farms but also on organic and conventional farms.

The first part of the study will work on the topic of the agricultural organism. Perception of the agricultural organism can make an important contribution to the sustainable management of the farm, as it helps to understand the specific current local conditions. This in turn enables the farm to deal with the local, regional and global challenges such as climate change, loss of biodiversity, etc. The farms then become local hotspots or "Living Farms" for sustainable farm management.

In order to offer thorough training in perception we:

    • Visit experienced practitioners and gather their methods, strategies and ideas.
    • Conduct interviews with people from practice and advisory services in order to answer research questions in perception.
    • Develop workshops and training and information materials jointly with researchers, practitioners and advisers for individual or joint training courses in perception on a farm.
