Let’s build a study group! We’re looking for people who are keen to learn and get involved! We want to restructure and revive learning in biodynamic agriculture. We aim for a practical, individual, collaborative and dynamic approach in which the students take the leading role!
WHO is is this addressed to?
We invite all farmers, multipliers, nutritionist and other professionals from within and around the biodynamic movement who wish to further explore and deepen their understanding of the biodynamic principles and their context. Participants are invited to play an active role and to join with their own (research) question. Let's build a study group!
WHY should you join?
We want to explore new ways of learning together. We’ve already offered a few online courses over the past few years, now we want to put your questions at the beginning. Let's learn through practical and relevant questions from colleagues and yourself. We believe, that participation not only promotes your professional development by deepening your existing knowledge, but expands your network and broadens your horizons through collaboration with peers...
Participants benefit
-by exploring topics in various steps
-from learning with and from peers and experts
-from engaging with the relevant literature
-through preparing and giving their presentations
The programme content has not yet been finalised, but will take shape through your registration, your involvement and your contributions!
We envision two types of participation: active or passive. Active participants come with a question or research topic, engage fully by giving presentations, work with peers and immerse themselves deeply in the training. The more passive participants attend certain modules as listeners, contributing to the exchange in the plenary sessions. The individual steps are explained in more detail below:
STEP 1: Warming / September – October 2026
Active participants are invited to contribute and to prepare a short presentation (10-15min) of your question/research project connected to a relevant theme of biodynamic agriculture in an open online seminar. Therefore, we ask you to take a step back and raise your questions to a higher (meso- or macro-) level. Your contribution should preferably include (historical) context, current research findings, references, and links to other relevant works. In a subsequent plenary discussion, we would like to provide an opportunity for dialogue, questions, and sharing of best practices and ideas, by including the audience. This online seminar marks the beginning, but also the foundation for further individual and collaborative learning. Please also write a short essay for your peers and for us so that we can plan the next steps . Deadline: End of August 2026
Aims:
Please save these dates in advance:
September 7th, 14th, 21st at 13:00 CEST
October 19th, 26th at 13:00 CEST
-------------
STEP 2: Expanding / November – December 2026
To broaden our horizons and delve deeper into the subject, we will invite various experts to share their insights on relevant topics. In the small-group discussions that follow, we will have the opportunity to gain further ideas and inspiration. Open online sessions.
Aims:
Please save these dates in advance:
November 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th at 13:00 CET
December 7th at 13:00 CET
-------------
STEP 3: Digesting and Rounding up/ Late February - March 2027
We will get together as study group to celebrate our achievements, look at our learning journey and the transformation of our questions: What will we take with us into the future? What new questions have come up? Where can we collaborate further?
Additionally, we will also evaluate the training approach: What was helpful? What was fun? What was missing? What can we do better?
Aims:
Dates will be announced later
* please note, that this program including the dates are work in progress. It is flexible and will be adapted to meet specific needs and circumstances
You may be wondering what kind of question this might be and whether your question fits into the training program?
These can be more general or philosophical questions, but they can also be very specific questions about everyday practical matters, and they can come from any area of biodynamic agriculture. We encourage you to participate, no matter what your question is!
Here are a few examples of questions we’ve received in various contexts:
«How do we relate ancient/indigineous practices with the biodynamic farming today?»
«I aim to understand how lunar cycles, sunlight, and related processes affect crop growth»
“How can we get more people excited about and motivated to support community-supported agriculture?”
“How can I establish a good routine to incorporate biodynamics into my daily life?
«Do the patterns of the flowers reflect the paths of the planets? What can we learn from this?»
«Why can I not use the whole chamomilla plant instead of using only flowers for the bd preps?»
«How can I turn my winery into a real farm organism ? «
«What is the expression of plant in bitterness? Is it only due to metabolites to repel pests or there is a larger aspect to this?»
«What should we consider for animal breed selection from biodynamics?»
«How can we connect as farmers with our own farm.»
We look forward to your question :)
What are the COSTS?
This is a first pilot year to work with this approach. As an active participant you can join all modules/steps for free (on a donation basis). For more passive participants, certain online sessions are accessible at a small fee. The open online sessions will be announced in the newsletter and to all registered people via mail.
What LANGUAGE do we speak?
Due to the internationality of the movement, main language is English. If you do not speak or understand English, but would like to participate, please contact us, we aim to find a solution.
